I am currently owed almost $40,000 in back support from my ex. I have been working with my local enforcement division and supportkids and have gotten no where. He has fled the state and my local office has sent information to the state he resides in...but still nothing. It has been about 7 years now and the arrears just keep adding up. He keeps getting away without paying a dime for his child. His license was suspended but given back to him. He had a warrant issued and this was vacated last year, why I do not know? He has been working under the table and he receives SSI payments. I was told his SSI could not be attached. I have been giving these agencies their information regarding addresses and etc. He is listed as a registered sex offender in the state he resides, he did jail time there. I went to the offender website and got his new address, gave it to supportkids and the local agency, still nothing!! They say they call him...he's not going to answer their calls. I Need Help

He was arrested for sleeping with and underage girl after he moved out of state...he was not a registered sex offender while I was with him. To the person who made a comment regarding this...thanks for your sarcastic compassion...the fact that he got his self in trouble after we split up has nothing to do with the fact that he still owes child support for our son. The issue at hand is that he owes support and has been getting away without paying for years. He can be placed in jail for failing to register in his state but is never obtained for failing to pay support!!!

According to law, Supplemental Security Income ("SSI") - can't be garnished, even to collect child support.
Therefore, this is not an option.

My case was opened in the state of PA. I just recently relocated to FL for work. They are aware of my relocation and I updated all my information with them. He fled the state to NM about 5-6 yrs. ago thinking he would not have to pay his support.

First thing you need to do is to make an appointment with your local child support services and sit down with a supervisor or the director. Ask them pointedly what the situation is and ask them why they seem to continually fail at locating and enforcing your order of support.

They may try to give you a song and dance...we don't know where he is at or we know where he is at but we don't know his employer. Insist upon them making contact with the local child support agency in his state and file a URESA (Uniform Reciprocal Enforcement Support Act) which compels the state and local agency he is in to actively work your case against him. His local agency will be required to bring him to court and determine why he is not paying.

Quite frankly you are way too nice. In order for you to get any results you must be the queen b***h. Do you understand?

There is a mechanism for federal prosecution as well....talk with your local agency about that issue....the laws change frequently and I've been out of the game awhile but child support services while administered in each state is a federal program. You have a RIGHT to have your local and state child support agency working on your behalf.....now insist upon it.

The person that makes the most noise (rationally and not abusive...but very logically) will always get the most attention.

Make sure they understand that you intend to keep at this until all your child support is paid and will be contacting them on a monthly basis, and you would like to make that contact the director of the local agency. If they give you the run around file a complaint with your state child support agency.....the locals must respond to a state filed complaint. If you don't get any satisfaction from your state filed complaint...file a complaint with the feds....the state and local must file a written response with the feds.

Good luck

Even if they do catch up with him, all they will do is send him to jail for a little while, you still won't see any money, especially if he is working under the table. My brother is in the same situation as your ex( except the sex offender and social sec. part) He works under the table and every once in awhile he has to go to jail. The thing in his situation though, his ex left the state with their child without his permission (against PA state law) and he never gets to see the kid.

You will likely need to go work more in exchange for money...kind of traditional, but...

...next time you go out on a date, check the sex offender registry 1st, before you have his baby and expect him to be there for you.
