1.) 3/5 + 1/3

LCD = 15

3(3)/5(3) + 1(5)/3(5) = 9/15 + 5/15 = 14/15

2.) 3/5 - 1/3

Same LCD as above - subtract

9/15 - 5/15 = 4/15

3.) 3/5 x 1/3

Multiply the numerators, multiply the denominators

3(1)/5(3) = 3/15 = 1/5

4.) 3/5 divided by 1/3

(3/5)/(1/3)

Multiply the big numerator by the reciprocal of the big denominator

(3/5)/(1/3) = (3/5)(3/1) = 9/5

5.) 1/3 + 5/6

LCD = 6

1(2)/3(2) + 5/6 = 2/6 + 5/6 = 7/6 = 1 1/6

1) 3/5 + 1/3

First, find a common denominator. Easiest way is to multiply the 5 and the 3. So that means your common denominator is 15. Multiply 3/5 by 3 and 1/3 by 5.

3(3) / 15 + 5(1) / 15
=9/15 + 5/15
=14/15

2.) 3/5 - 1/3

Common denominator = 15
Multiply 3/5 by 3 and 1/3 by 5

= 9/15 - 5/15
= 4/15

3.) 3/5 x 1/3

Method one:

Multiply horizontally. (3 x 1) and (5 x 3)

= 3/15

Can be reduced by divide 3 to top and bottom.

= 1/5

Method two:

3/5 x 1/3

Cancle out the 3's

= 1/5 x 1/1
= 1/5

4.) 3/5 divided by 1/3

Whenever you are dividing, you must reciprocate the second term. That means you flip (1/3) into (3/1). Then you multiply.

3/5 x 3/1

= 9/5

5) 1/3 + 5/6

Common denominator = 6
Multiply 1/3 by 2

=2/6 + 5/6

= 7/6

Reduce answers to lowest terms

1.) 3/5 + 1/3
You must find the lowest common denominator
3/5x3/3+1/3x5/5
9/15+5/15=14/15

2.) 3/5 - 1/3
lowest common denominator again
3/5x3/3-1/3x5/5
9/15-5/15=4/15

3.) 3/5 x 1/3
Multiply the two top numbers and the two bottom numbers
3x1/5x3=3/15
reduce 3/15 to 1/5

4.) 3/5 divided by 1/3
invert one of the fractions and multiply
3/5x3/1=9/5 which is 1 4/5

5.) 1/3 + 5/6
again find common denominator
2/6+5/6=7/6=1 1/6

hope this helps on the next ones you must do.

1) Find a common denominator (15) doing this changes the problem to 9/15+5/15 = 14/15

2)Use the same common denominator as in #1 and your problem becomes 9/15-5/15 = 4/15

3)Multiply the tops and bottoms across and then reduce:
(3*1)/(5*3)=3/15=1/5

4) Invert the second fraction and multiply across, then reduce: 3/5*3/1=(3*3)/(5*1)= 9/5= 1 and 4/5

5)Just like in #1 find a common denominator (6) and then simplify the problem: 2/6+5/6=7/6=1 and 1/6

You have to get common denominators first. Also, remember to flip the second fraction after changing division to multiplication. Here are the answers so you can see if you've done them right, but I'm not giving you the work. Try it again for yourself.

1. 14/15

2. 4/15

3. 1/5

4. 1 and 4/5

5. 1 and 1/6

You need to slowly withdraw yourself from her grasp. Slowly start making friends with other people and stop spending time with her. If you do this suddenly it will only cause her to retaliate which will only make your life worse. Always be nice to her to her face and behind her back, don't give anyone else reason to think that you are the cause of the problem. Don't stick in there thinking that this is just a phase she is going through because she is a teenager. People like this never change. It is a powertrip for her to push you around because deep down she is really insecure and probably likes to try to control you and your emotions because she has no control over her own self.
