Why do Black Americans have different facial features from Africans?

Partly due to cross breeding with other races, mainly white, and also becasue the American diet is different. Most black Americans eat much better than most black Africans and are therefore more robust. Both of these things make their facial features different. I know what you are talking about. I have seen Africans up close and everyone I know, black, white and yellow makes the same observation.

I know what you mean. There are tons of variations as another poster said but I can always tell the difference between an American and an African but I'm not sure if that is due to facial features or demeanor.

Giveu, the first girl looks east African to me and I would have assumed as much even if you hadn't specified. As I said, I don't know if it's in the features exactly or if it's the demeanor.

There's nothing wrong with it, I can tell the difference between an Australian, an Englishman and an American as well. They just look different to me but, again, I don't know if it's actually a physical thing.

This is one of the stupidest questions I have ever read. Really? Because both African Americans and Africans come from Africa their origins are African. Their roots are African. I know a couple of African Americans that are VERY dark and I know some Africans that are very light skinned some Africans are even white. Because guess what? There are white people in Africa too. Really you have no knowledge it's a shame that you feed into this idea of whiteness. You should be proud of your roots boy!

Sorry hun but africans look different! You cannot generalize their facial features because they are so diverse looking. There are africans (the typical sterotype) that are very dark, long necks, kinky hair and wide noses (Bushmen) Then there are africans with thinner noses, thin lips and longer hair (ethiopians, somalians)

Just like african americans come in all shades (light skinned, caramel, dark-skinned) with different hair textures (curly, straight, wavy, kinky) the same goes for pure-africans.

I don't understand why you're getting such rude answers. Africa is made up of so many different countries that simple reasoning would seem that Africans would have differences if facial features and skin tones. Just like Europeans and Asians have differences in features and tones. White Americans will be different from white Europeans like black Americans will be different from black Africans. Example this woiman is African who looks every similar to a lot of African Americans as far as skin tone and features.

Americans in general (even whites) are more mixed than most of the other populations of the Earth

most of my people have a white, Native, Asian or Latino ancestor in their blood and usually more than one

Leave that sherm alone. The only way they look different is if they're mixed. They have Black folks in the Americas as dark as any African.
