Now that is a universal question that scrutinizes absolutely every egocentric matieralistic person in America and Abroad. For some, wanting what they need is year round dilemma. I want some toothpaste because I need it for essential tooth and gum maintanence. Therefore, it no longer is a matter of want, but need.
For others, it is competeing with the Robinson's, you want that new yacht, but don't need it. Just because Janet can afford to dine in classy restaurants, doesn't entitle you the same benefits. McDonalds will satisfy hunger just the same.
Arguements over unequal treatment arise during bouts of economic "Boom". Consumers are spending more, yet families still struggle in Appalachian regions to obtain their needs, in a democracy that demands actively seeking for a empolyment whilst recieving benefits. I demand to understand how so many drive rich cars live in rich neighborhoods with better than sub-standard housing, yet they do not operate a 9-5 job.
It is not so much a matter of what you want or need, but rather what is deserved, to function in a country that manafactures and sells millions of vehicles both oversea companies and abroad -- I have to ask, Why shouldn't I want a need a new car? There are enough used cars in compound lots and unused to start a booming buisness. It is sooo funny people who raise that statement/question--- "Well, this family doesn't need this money, clothes, appliance, etc" Yet, the same high class woman displays a ring worth more than my annual income. The needs and wants in this country are there, to suffice both need and want, the 'managers' are just the ones to deem who wants it, who needs it, or does it look better hanging in a closet, or on the back of some poor underprivledged child. I'll take that.

Everyone in the world should have to think about this question and answer it several times in their lives.
It is so easy to get off track.
Just go to a place where people are very deprived as we think of deprived and see how they would answer it.
The answer for everyone should be want what you need.
That is the basis for life. People would be much more content if they were happy with what they need and not all the stuff they want which will not make them happy in the long run.

Everyone wants what they need- it's survival material that everyone has to have, therefore needs, unless they are for some reason restricted from the desire of life and its passions
Most of the time, what I want is not what I need, however, it gives me a motive to keep wanting what i need

You don't need anything. There is nothing intrinsic to the nature of reality that makes anything be needed. Granted, in order to fulfil some conditions some things may be needed and or wanted, but that is not, I believe the nature of the question.

All my needs for survival in this world are fulfilled. I should be contented. But am I? Why is there hunger in my soul?
Maybe I want something beyond the need...I want my paradise back.

It's always in flux....I always have what I need, although I may think I want something that I am not experiencing at the time.
I can also choose to change my perception of my needs and wants.
Ultimately....I am experiencing exactly what I have intended to need and want in each moment.

I need what I want, but what I want is usually pretty basic. Sometimes I just need/want a hug.
