While I commend you Thor for being succesful at living a minimalist lifestyle, just imagine what would happen to our economy if everyone else stopped buying Ipods, and Starbucks, and new cars, etc.
To answer the question, yes rising costs are making it harder to make it paycheck to paycheck. I blame this on the irresponsible actions of the Federal Reserve in keeping the prime rate extremely low for too long, and the SEC for allowing risky loans to be bundled as securities and sold in the market.

it was harder for me financially when gasoline was over $3.00 a gallon. Right now it's not as bad.
But I'm also earning two paychecks... to ensure I'm not going to struggle that badly. I do find the inflation of fresh produce and other healthy foods to be extremely extortionate though... it's like they're trying to force some of these families who can only afford junk, into poor health for the rest of their lives.
A lot of people aren't as lucky, or as healthy, as I am, unfortunately. I feel for these families.

Yes, it is but according to the Republicans I should be enjoying a wage hike (even though I'm not keeping up with the cost of living index), unemployment is down (although I know about 5 people who recently got layed-off) and the best health care system in the world (even after my HMO just raised my co-pay/deductible for prescriptions). Not to mention a friend of mine having to borrow against his 401k just to pay his medical bills. So much for a high stock market for him.
They have called this the "Bush Boom".
I hate to see us under his recession.

Yes. The cost of living keeps rising. Inflation is on the rise. The dollar is being devalued. Wages rise very little in comparison.

It's getting harder to be retired, and it will get even worse with the 40% increase of energy costs this winter. I may have to go back to work.

Don't you mean your welfare check?
You're going to love it if and when your girl Hitlary gets in office and she starts her raising the taxes through the roof.

Actually, not really...even in spite of buying a new vehicle.
But my husband works his *** off - we both got raises this year, and he runs two small businesses on the side. Even with the costs going up, we're still doing pretty darned good.
