Sorry but to a guy chivalry feels kinda worthless these days. Some women actually get offended if you open a door for them. I think it died with the traditional family did and women proved they don't need us. Nothing is sadder and more adrift than a man who has no use for the things that make him a man. I was raised that way and it took me 31 years to find a woman who appreciated it.

Chivalry isn't dead, but it is walking with a limp. It became paralyzed in the 1970's as a result of repeated canings by the feminist movement. Many of us raised with the "old fashioned" notions of chivalry were shunned and castigated when we would attempt to display these simple little social polities, such as opening doors for ladies, giving up our seats, offering a hand down a stair.
As was explained to me many times, "I'm not helpless!"
So, why bother? If I'm gonna be shamed for being nice, I'll be ambivalent. It seemed as if what once were habits now are vices. Few men anymore know what chivalry is. A lost art of politeness.

In this society it is difficult for a man to know his place. The feminist movement really brought a halt to chivalry because me were getting scolded for acting chivalrous. I continue to act as my father instructed me. I open doors for women and men, help women on the side of the road, help people that are in need, and try to show my wife that she is everything to me. I believe that chivalry is only lost for now. I hope that it returns though.

Chivalry isn't either it is hard to tell if the girl wants the guy to be chivalrous, because some prefer independence, while others expect to be pampered. In my opinion women should get over any hopes of chivalry, its the same as any animal, we've all got our mating rituals.

A lot of things have changed our culture because of the tv. Chivalry is dying because there is so much attention on sex, therefore, that's all people want. I mean, it's all coozy and nice in the beginning, but once the pants drop and the deed is done... well, things change. Why? Because the mystery is over. So, yea maybe lost, not so much dead. THere are some nice guys out there. But, we all know where they finish in the race.

Chivalry, I knew her... I didn't know she was missing. We used to have some great nights under the stars. Boy did she love wine, and she was a mean Scrabble player. One of my fondest memories was skinny dipping with her at South Padre and watching the bioluminescent plankton in our wake glowing as we swam to shore and marking our footprints, shining back to the dunes.... well I'd better stop there it just isn't right to kiss and tell. If you see her let her know I said hi.

It's alive and kick'n down here in the South where a gentleman always knows that a lady deserves the very best, all the time, in any situation or circumstance and there is never a pre-disposed expectation attached !
It's regretful you aren't currently in the company of a "real" gentleman and had to ask !

Chivalry is confused. Some girls get offended by a guy trying to be chivalrous because it's "sexist." Some girls like it. Hard to tell what the rules are anymore.

It's not dead...you just have to find a good guy. I was raised to open doors for others and all that stuff, so I just do it out of habit now-a-days. But it's always nice to be thanked once and awhile, or get a surprised look.
