The Sino-Soviet Split
Mao's Great Leap Forward proved to be a disaster for the Chinese. It so crippled the economy, that the people of China avoided famine only because of the government's strict and efficient rationing system. The failure of the Great Leap Forward brought stinging criticism from Nikita Kruschchev in 1960. Mao, in turn, criticized Krushchev as a revisionist, a coward, and a capitalist. Krushcheve then cut off all economic and military aid. China and Russia had for almost three hundred years been mortal and suspicious enemies; the common bond of proletariat revolution could not undo centuries of Russian expansion and imperialism and Chinese suspicion. The rupture between the two governments would never heal. The world now had two separate communist superpowers pursuing radically different courses; the immediate effect, however, of the split was to isolate China internationally, for it now had no friends in the world.

I realise your essay is on the Cold War, but to understand the origins of the Chinese Communist Revolution and the influence of the Soviet Union you need to go back to the 1930s., when it all began. It is a fascinating story and the best account of it is a classic first published in 1937 , "Red Star Over China' by Edgar Snow. He was an American journalist in China in those years and wrote what was virtually a first hand account. More modern accounts tend to be revisionist , based on Chinese or Soviet sources with political axes to grind long after the events actually occurred.
The book may still be in print, if not a good library should be able to get it for you.

maximum communists as we communicate seek advice from the soviet union as a "state capitalism". particularly after their civil warfare. After the civil warfare they began to undertake marketplace-friendly regulations. So it replaced into no longer a "unfastened-marketplace" capitalism because of the fact the marketplace replaced into controlled. in spite of the indisputable fact that it replaced into nevertheless capitalism for the reason that they had a marketplace based economic gadget. Even till now that, no person replaced into under the effect that they have got been communist or socialist. Marx particularly reported that for a rustic to bypass in the direction of socialism, they ought to attain top capitalist progression. Russia replaced into nevertheless regularly composed of peasants and replaced into often a feudal society. They weren't "eligible" for socialism and did no longer create that. Lenin's plan replaced into to fairly "carry the citadel" till the genuine revolution got here in Germany- which replaced into the main industrialized u . s . on the time. Stalin replaced into the guy who insisted the U.S. replaced into socialist. in spite of the indisputable fact that it replaced into no longer. there are a number of, many leftists from those eras who bypass into great element as to why it replaced into no longer.
