something to consider
are there children present?
singles? seeing couples together can make singles feel shut out and even more lonely than they were before
holding hands is sweet but don't start eating one another in public as that is bad taste (and don't you have a HOME TO GO TO?)

Well I suppose it depends upon your culture. I've never seen this thourght of behaviour in India put I have in the Philippines. If it is accepted in your society cause at the end of the day others may find it offensive then I would stay clear of it. Otherwise why not?
From the sound of things it seems it is you who is uncomfortable and you should ask yourself why and try and address this issue to your husband.
But as a single person, I can't help but feel a bit akward when friends are kissing each other right in front of me.

Yeah, ear nibbling is definitely walking that line of being awkward and I might be a little embarrassed to see that. I hug and kiss my husband in front of friends, but not in a graphic, making out kind of way, more of a friendly way. I wouldn't feel comfortable nibbling his ears in front of friends unless I was drunk!

I think there is a line you shouldn't cross with the PDA. Holding hands, little kisses, arms around each other...those are fine. Nibbling ears, sucking face or neck, or touches that should be left in the bedroom are a little over the top. Maybe they are just trying to make people think they have a great sex life and are madly in love.

if it is then my hubby and me are very rude. I think its nice in this cynical age that husbands and wives show a commitment to each other

Not 'rude' more.. inappropiate I'd say, it can become incredibly uncomfortable for the unfortunate sods who have no where else to look.
Just remind them it isn't a swingers club, they don't have to throw their watch forward, they can go home right now. More original than "Get a room". ;-)

Within reason no. But much more than a brief kiss and hug tends to cause comment in the UK.
