the day we drained the pond, i was 5.
my sisters and i put all the salamanders in buckets so they wouldn't die,
most of my relatives were over, cousins to play with....and we all got to run 'into' the pond after it was drained, which was very cool at the time.
it's just a day that stands out in my childhood as being super wonderful.

Two things:
The late nights I would spend with my Grandma while everyone else was asleep. I told you about this one before. We would stay up and watch TV shows and Johnny Carson and laugh and laugh. I am so fortunate to still have my Grandma and Grandpa, but they are in their 80's and they live somewhere around 1000 miles from me. I dread the day that my Mom calls me with bad news. Just thinking about it scares me. We are so close.
Also when I was a kid I would lay in bed and look up at the stars until I fell asleep. This was around the time I was 7 and I would just look up at those stars and dream and pray for a better future. So far things have improved. We were in a very small trailer in the country.

I think I would go back to school for a week. And actually sit down and shut up and behave.
