I just be blunt. I started useing yahoo answers in like december 2005. I got more time on the yahoo answers toilet then most of the users.

I've been cloned a lot. I had two clones in May 2006. In May 2007 at one point on the same day I had 10 clones.

I've since "toned down" my act, moved to a new category away from where I was cloned.

When we see a clone we are hurt. We are afraid of what damage the clone may cause.

Currently I am spartacus. The catchphrase I am spartacus from the movie refers to people who "identity theft" spartacus and were massacred for it.

I feel anyone who "clones" spartacus on yahoo answers that people who don't have me as a contact would not confuse them for me as easily but just assume oh spartacus that is traditionally someone who is cloned.

I'd almost say using the avatar (within the same category as someone else who uses it) in order to provoke people is a bit more like "identity theft". There could be someone else who is a regular in another category who uses your same name but has a different avatar. Especially in regards to your true first name/last initial, or just first name by itself.

There is no registration with Yahoo for a specific nickname to use Y!A...

I'm sure that using multiple IDs and pretending to be someone else is against Y!A regulations though.

properly, i have suggested it before and that i will say it back contained in the nicest way that i comprehend obtainable - confer with someone and get some anger administration counseling. i'm relating the notations that you made on your profile. YA, Election type seems no longer to be the position for the tender or skinny skinned persons. And having said a number of this round for the previous month or so it would want to look that you've extra a lot of this on your own. I communicate of your different costs and proclivity for insults. provide up the BS. Ask your questions, loaded or no longer and pass on. in case you opt for to commerce barbs with YA individuals then provide up whining at the same time as the fan is became your way. you've gotten to be particular member's style of leisure. advice: provide up the to and fro leisure, they'll lose interest and pass on to a distinct style of entertainment. My wager is that you'll proceed on your strategies.

Thank goodness no one likes me enough to copy or emulate me! *smootch*

lol

I've had user names copied or cloned. Back in the day when caps (or not) used for logging-in didn't matter; I had several users supplement certain letters with other letters appearing to be one in the same - and post stuff acting as if they were me.

THAT's identity theft.

As far as copying a picture (someone's avatar) while in my opinion it's not identity theft; it can be done in very poor taste. I've had that happen too.

It is not illegal, just unethical and one of the worst things someone can do. Bad thing is,people are claiming it is a lib, don't bet on it,it could be a con.

added. also converted, stooping to someone elses level will never make it right. Yes both sides need to stop it and stop encouraging it. Let's leave the playground antics on the playground. Yahoo will only listen to the person being cloned and even then it is a tough process.

It is against TOS guidelines but people with multiple Ids really don't care about that. They'll get suspended and reappear.

The yahoo avatars can be created by anyone who has an account here, but using personal pictures is in my opinion, identity theft. Not that it matters. LOL

I can't tell half of the Yahoo avatars apart anyway...but I think if somebody is using a personal photo or something not publically available that is recognized as theirs it is underhanded to clone it for the purpose of mocking that person.

I see it more as a form of "cyber-stalking", especially in the case of the one that was cloning Humanist for awhile because that one would repost Humanist's questions too. RLP comes to mind as one that gets 'cloned' too and RLP uses alternate ID's too, Auntie Acid being my favorite because 'Acid' is more fun and not so uptight.

I think it's completely chicken **** and pathetic.

I took all of my personal pictures down after pissing off one of the more rabid on Yahoo - I didn't want to see them used against me later.

Edit - Gee, Also - so two wrongs make a right? Did Penelope steal that person's pic, or did you just pick her out of midair? Grow up.

I think that copying a personal picture is close to being an illegal act if it is not. either way cloning is tacky, and very uncool..
