Nas can, but why is he criticized? Pac wasn't. Anyways i don't support Nas on this unless he really had a reason too like he said in his latest interview.

I thought that'd be a little obvious. We live in a different world now, pc idiots are taking over and pretty much everything is being censored. Back when hip hop was in its growth stages, it didn't have the global coverage it has now, people were shocked at what tupac and NWA were coming out with but they weren't threatened by it. Post 9/11, pretty much all violence and any connotations towards it are censored to 'protect' the people or at least cushion them in ignorance. Think about what calling his album something that will not only offend a few people but also implies that it will have some grains of controversy in it will do to those pc twats.

NWA and Tupac use the N word in a sentence and the N word is used in everyday slang 'Whats up my N****' 'Yo this my N****' etc so you don't pay attention or take offence to that.. Nas is naming his album 'N***A' anybody calls you the N word your gonna take offence to it... I think that is the difference..

Nas would not be doing this to offend anyone more than anything I think he's making a statement and on this drop he's got a whole lot to say.. I hope..

different times, different media coverage. Rap wasn't covered the same way then as it is now......especially now. People are blaming hip-hop for everything that is wrong with America and it's people. His title isn't helping the matter. Now I think I know into which direction his album is going, and i appalled him for it, but....Nas save it for the lyrics and leave the title to something else!!!!

I bet it's because of the time period.. NWA and Pac was early 90's.. censoring has came a long way since then.. both positively (in censoring titles such as your case here..) and the other way with cartoons such as Family Guy. I'm not complaining, I love Family Guy, I'm just saying..

All of the "Censorship" in the music industry is completely voluntary. It is most likely the label won't allow it because they will have a hard time with the distribution and sales. not to mention where they can and can not sell it (some record stores wont cary items with questionable album art)

Its all about the $$$

Doesn't matter to me cause i think they are all a bunch of idiots anyways! How does 1 made up word stand for so much? Much less the black population can use that term but if a white were to use it he/she would be scolded. Times are changing and maybe that answers your question a little better but the rap where blacks are using the "N-word" makes me sick for the fact that they are aloud to use it and nobody else can!

um.....I've wondered this myself...um...I think that it's cuz NWA and Pac were "hardcore", and Nas is "concious" (or somewhat)..I think that's why, if he had a hardcore image (as in, what if Illmatic had that name), then no one would be complainin....

I know he was "soft", but He at least tried to have a "gangster" image...I mean, he had songs off of 2pacalype that gave him at least an impression that he was "hard"

simply because of the spelling....Nas is going w/ the "n word" ending in -er as opposed to -a
