what motivates a person(s) to mutilate, torture, and kill an innocent creature that only wants to give love? the killer is stalking cats in people's back yards and cutting off limbs and hacking in them in half until they die. i encourage anyone with information to contact the san antonio police dept. i am not the perpetrator or a victim...just a concerned citizen who wants this awful person caught and severely punished.

I agree that it would be great if we could stop this abuse of animals. However, the best way to start to halt animal abuse is to control the animals. Spay and neuter all animals not specifically intended as breeding animals. And all pets cats or dogs should be kept controlled in some way by their owners.
I have 3 cats, they stay inside. I have 2 dogs and they are kept fenced, leashed or under control at all times. There would not be any pets killed if there were responsible owners controlling them.

I take exception with your assessment of cats, having said that no animal should be mistreated. I think that anyone that would deliberately hurt an animal for their enjoyment is a very sick person and needs to be removed form society. It should also be said that the fighting of dogs and cocks are not far behind, both are pretty inhumane as well.
Didn't they arrest a 19 year old male here for a number of those killings? It should also be said that this question should have been asked in general questions, has this has nothing to do with San Antonio, and surfaces all over the world. I'll give you a star anyways it is important for everyone to be made aware of the problem.

We are having the same problem here in a private gated community in Granbury, Tx. The entire town is concerned and no one understands why anyone would be so cruel as to mutilate and murder innocent creatures. Can these people really hate cats this much? It is unbelievable! I will pray that both cases are solved soon.

This happens all over, every year around Halloween time. I was up myself last night because I ran outside to see why the neighborhood cats were crying (I think they were just in heat, all three seemed to be okay).
Every Halloween the news tells us to keep our cats inside. Some people practice Satanic rituals, some people just have serious mental problems. I know one guy was caught (the one who was putting them on the railroad tracks), I hope they catch the rest so that pet owners can sleep at night.

The only thing that could motivate a person to do this is total sociopathy. It's well known that people who torture animals eventually end up doing it to people.

Some people get a little liquor in their system and do weird things and get a thrill out of it. Then agan, it could be some college fraternity initiation. Any way you put it, it's still insane.

While I agree killing pets is psycho and wrong, most cats deserve it. They are vicious, filthy, vile creatures.
I hope they catch that guy though. That's pretty scary.
