Sometimes it could be to cover their guilt. Other times it could be do to jealousy issues/trust issues. They could have been in a relationship prior that was a bad experience, therefore they are carrying the baggage. There could also be self-esteem issues.

Sometimes that's the case but other times it's because you have already cheated on them in the past and their trust for you has decreased. They might just be really insecure though. Who knows?

There are lots of reasons a person would do this. He or she may also have a low self-esteem, or may have been cheated on before, or maybe just schizo paranoid.

I do indeed think the accuser is cheating also, but in order to condone his actions, he/she accuses the other of cheating also. Can you say "rat?"
