I watched him say this during coverage of the 9/11 attacks, maybe 1 week later.
As well all know people have died and have cancer from being down there.

How will this affect him if he runs?

Well, if he's the candidate, I expect more ads like this from the NY firefighters, who can't stand him:

It could never be safe and every in and to do with building knows this.
Wire alone in a short section has enough to kill from smoke let alone all of the rest of the building materials.

But the work had to be done just like when Chernobyl had its melt down the workers knew they would die but they did it any way to say others.

And the brave people who work in the police and fire and other areas all knew the risk as it is a part of the job just like the military.

Life itself is a risk and when you take a breath you never know so do you walk around and worry or do you live and do what has to be done.

I say do what has to be done and when God says it is your or my time then except it. This comes from some one who has been there.

No one died of cancer, the brave rescue workers and innocent bystanders, died of smoke inhalation, or of a toxic lung disease from the buildings ashes and particles, as, or after they toppled. These people were exposed directly to the harsh materials soon after the incident.
The mayor was correct a week later when he stated that it was safe to proceed into the area, and go about business.
It will not affect his campaign. He is a heroic leader, and his actions after 9/11 will only help him as he runs for president

I was always surprised that that didn't turn into more of a scandal, from the federal government on down. If it is Hillary and Giuliani for the general election you could see many of these 9/11 groups coming out against one or both of them. I wouldn't be surprised if they are swift-boated in this campaign, especially Giuliani since he was the mayor.

He is already currently running he's one of the Republican candidates for president.

Not sure how the rest of the country who do not know too much about Rudy will see this.

I think maybe for people in the bible belt and in the midwest his issue of morality might be more of an issue.

It won't. He was working with the information that was given to him at the time. A lot of people working in the wreckage refused to wear masks and respirators that were offered to them, even though it had to be obvious to everyone that breathing this air couldn't be a good thing, DUH.

When are we going to stop expecting everyone to tell us what to do and when to do it? Can't we think for ourselves??? Quit whining, and vote Republican.

They did the best testing that they could at the time. Hind sight is always 20/20. I doubt that anyone could hold that against him, or those doing air samples. There was no crystal ball to see 6 years into the future.

Good point. I hadn't put these two together. I think Republicans are mostly interested in the uberrich who wouldn't be bothered to do work around the site and get cancer anyway. I am dead serious.

He's a liar and knew how dangerous it was. He should be held liable for his negligence which hurt and killed people.
