Its still George's team and he will do what ever - I don't see Joe coming back!!! I think he might be sick of the pressure and the backbiting there.

a million/2 and a million/2. You cant blame a supervisor while a collection is undesirable and failing - if a collection is undesirable their undesirable. Joe Torre has been no longer something yet a saint and an entire type act with the Yankees. Georgie ought to have stated it in greater of a regularly occurring rate way - no longer purely blurting out - 'If he doesnt win this night hes fired.' I advise come on - considering the fact that his time with 'ninety six he has delivered you.. Derek Jeter, Jorge Posada, Mariano Reveria, Andy Pettite..etc... 1996 : Championship 1997 : ALCS 1998 : Championship 1999 : Championship 2000 : Championship 2001 : WS. yet than lower back..the Yankees have a 2 hundred,000,000 funds and havent gained a championship in over 6 years (that's plenty for Georgie and a few Yankee followers.)

Holy cow! We disagree on something! I'm shocked! I think the offer that Torre got was HUGE. The first half of his dozen years (although I hate to admit it) were great. The past couple of years, he has been losing, right off the bat, in the post season. I don't think it was wrong to "penalize" him. He hasn't been performing. Torre is the highest paid coach in the league. Most coaches don't average more than $600K per year. I think giving him incentives and a goal to meet was a great alternative to giving him the boot. Sorry, but if Torre wants to be selfish about the money, he should leave.
BTW, I'm NOT a yank fan and I think the money they pay for their players is disgusting.

Yeah he will when the new manager of the Yankees cant get into the post season....the team is in last place Boston won the AL EAST by 20 games and is back in the hunt for a AL Pennant and a World Series Title...They cant sell out the New Stadium.....Cant get any players to commit long term or even sign quality free agents....Jeter demands a trade....He will call Torre and offer him whatever he wants and beg him to come back as the Manager

No. They'll probably release a statement that goes something like "Unfortunately the New York Yankees and Joe Torre could not reach an agreement...we wish him well in his future endeavors, blah blah blah".

Steinbrenner's ego is so big, once he makes a decision, he won't change it...It won't happen...and the offer was so Torre WOULD turn it down...I don't think the Yankees wanted Torre and I don't think Torre wanted the Yankees this time...

I don't think Steinbrenner will apologize no matter how much heat he gets. I think he'll ignore all those letters. This will probably lead to a backlash and a boycott.

Why would he? Joe won four rings with a different team. Almost all those players are gone. He had a great run and a long career as a Yankee Manager. Let's move on and see what someone else can do.

You bring up a good point and I would never try to outguess George, but I wouldn't put it past him. However, I don't believe Torre would budge from his position, he is not Billy Martin.
