I heard that abortion could lead to cancer. I believe it was cervical cancer (could've been ovarian though). I'm not sure on this and I was just wondering. Can anyone tell me more? And give me some sites to look at for more info (such as studies that have been done).

I didn't hear it from an anti-abortionist. I just heard it from someone and was just wondering because she was told having an abortion could be the cause of that type of cancer (people in her family are known for going to get abortions. Many have pre-cancerous cells found due to a pap smear.)

The precancerous cells could have been caused by plenty of things. Since the one is known to be quite sexually active.
Forgot to add that part.

I don't want to hear that abortion is wrong. I don't plan on ever having an abortion. So if you thought that that's why I was asking, it wasn't. I just heard something and wanted to know if there was any truth behind it.

You may be thinking of a report in the 90s showing a supposed link between pregnancy terminations and breast cancer.

A study released in April of this year showed no increase in cancers in women who had abortions, in the 100,000 nurses studied. The study compared women who had abortions and women who had spontaneous miscarriages.

The reports of increased breast cancer risk became a political issue when it was discovered that some employees at federally funded pregnancy resource centers were giving false information, saying that there was a strong and proven link between abortion and breast cancer.

by way of fact maximum of what planned parenthood does isn't on the subject of abortions. They do breast maximum cancers screenings and referrals and a load of alternative womens wellbeing issues, and are often the only wellbeing care expert bypass to a girl could have in a year. additionally, the Susan G Komen beginning place would not care in any respect approximately cervical or ovarian maximum cancers, and is form of a jerk approximately anybody yet themselves making use of the word 'for the treatment'. they're purely attracted to breast maximum cancers.

I have read a few things and they talk about it as if it's everyone. Things that you would contribute to lower income people they attribute to all woman whom get abortions. and they say things like woman whom have an ELECTIVE abortion have a greater risk of cancer and other things like eptopic pregnancies in later pregnancies. Like because you elect as opposed to have a emergency abortion/DNC your risk is less. It's a bunch of crap. If you want the truth dont go online for this one, go to a OB/GYN and speak to the they will tell you and get a second opinion!

When I had mine they told me a plethora of things that could go wrong now or 50 years from now with my body but cancer was never mentioned. This means there are no good studies that would suggest this as a strong possibility.

No, there are so many factors in cancer that it would be almost impossible to pinpoint one thing in most cases. There is genetics, environment, etc. Cervical cancer has been linked to human papilloma virus (HPV) (ie genital warts are caused by this).

No. That is a silly canard sometimes voiced by anti-abortionists for the purpose of scaring people.
