I went to a very seemingly nice jewelry store, and applied for a position there. The lady told me after I handed the application in that we are all Armenians here and That she was Hispanic. Do you want to work with us? What nationality are you? And then she looked down on the ground and said, well, you could go to the store which is a 45 minute drive from here.

Is this discrimination, and could there be enough for a lawsuit.

Note. I am Caucasian.

Sounds like it. They must talk in other languages and wonder if you'll be comfortable with that. But, yea, that's discrimination. She was pretty dumb for saying that.

As for lawsuit, you weren't denied employment, just given a bunch of odd questions. Not grounds for a lawsuit. You're not one of THOSE people who sue for everything are you and flooding the legal system?

It is discrimination, but it sounds like it's your word again hers, so you probably don't have a case. But do report this business to the Better Business Bureau. If you have any more contact with this store, have someone else with you (or a pocket recorder) to document what goes on.

probably but no one will do anything about it!!!! i know because i also am caucasian and was fired over a lie a co-worker started who happened to be gay!!! so to be politically correct, they did the wrong thing and fired an innocent person!!! funny thing is miss thing was fired a year and a half later for failing a drug test and causing a property damage accident at work!!! she did deserve to be fired not because she was gay but because of several reasons.1-she pointed herself out many times, always excused.more special treatment.2-whined and threw a fit to get her way about not doing jobs that it was her rotation to do.3-coming to work hung over or drunk and under the influence of drugs4-poor work ethics mistreatment of other workers and bullying5-poor quality of work6-insubordination to supervisors and team leaders 7-complete disregard for rules and safety.i think any person or persons who lie to frame another worker should all be fired and lose all benefits and pay, monetary damages to the wronged worker.if the company knowingly is promoting a hostile work enviroment by allowing certain peoples to discrimanate and lie about their character simply because they do not like them and they are hiding behind being part of a protected group then all the management who knowingly took part in or allowed this injustice should also be fired and stripped of all benefits and the company to pay a large amount to the victim, reinstate their position, clear their name and record and be held accountable--period! i do not care who or what you are a lie will not stand forever!

Definite discrimination. There are laws against this...but if you won the suit, would you REALLY want to work there? Sue them, but find a better JOB>
