Yeah, just having one age of majority seems reasonable. Decide on an age when the average kid becomes a more or less responsible adult who can make their own decisions and go with it. Now I don't know if that would be 18 or 16 or 21 or 25, but we should just pick one!
As for legalizing marijuana... well, it doesn't make sense to have that illegal while alcohol and cigarettes are legal. I like a beer or 2 on the weekend, so I'd have to say legalize marijuana to be fair.

I would decriminalize all drugs period. The "War on Drugs" has worked as well as prohibition did and has created new criminal empires just as prohibition spawned Al Capone. I would also look to the model of the Europeans regarding alcohol. There, it is legal to drink at least beer at age 16. They are not allowed to drive until they are 18 and past the stupidity that most people exhibit when they first start drinking. The Europeans also do not have a problem with having a pub in the neighborhood where you can walk home.
Unfortunately, with the impact of the puritans on our society, we will probably never see either of these changes,

Never met an 18 year old that could drink responsibly and neither have you. That said, you have a point. Lower the drinking age to 18, but only for enlisted military. People generally don't smoke too much pot and drive - it's the last thing they feel like doing, so legalize it? Yeah, OK, but lay off the other smokers as well.

I think they should just legalize marijuana (I don't smoke it or do any drug) because really, it's not much different than alcohol (effect wise). It save the government a lot of money tying to catch people with trafficking or using, plus they could also put it on the market, just like beer.
As for age, it doesn't matter. Everyone will still do it, whether it is legal or not for them at the time. In the end it comes down to responsibility.

When you're 18, you're considered a legal adult. Most of these adults are out of their parents homes and need jobs. It's hard to work a steady job without being able to drive yourself. Raising the driving age to 21 would put a lot of working adults in a tight situation.

Drinking age should be 25+ or outllawed.
It kills your organs, brain cells, and affects your ability to make responsible choices, also makes 90% of people into assholes. Reminds me of my favorite phrase, I never met a drunk I didn't want to hit.
Don't even get me started on drunk driving, killed my fiancee, lousey drunk, now he's dead, my justice worked better then the courts 3 years in jail for manslaughter.
Weed, is only illegal due to money, back in the 20's when it was discovered how much better it is then wood for all things all the congressmen had there fingers in the forestry industry and stood to lose there collective a s s 's if weed was allowed to grow as a product, so they banned it and blamed it on minorities and the debil. That is the truth of the prohibition of weed.
Now the government makes so much money off of aresting us and reselling our weed, and importing it themselves they cannnot back off, the entire war on drugs is based on weed and without it would collapse overnight.
Weed is scientificaly proven time and time again to have zero negative effects, you can't even overdose on it for christ sake.
It is also the only "drug" aside from shrooms, that is used in its original unaltered form, not cooked cut, mixed etc, making it 100% natural in every definition known to man, it is not poisonous either.
It's all about money once again the root of all ebil is the government and money, get rid of them both and go back to the barter system where everyone makes there own stuff and if you want what some one else has trade for it.
Then we wouldn't be out of jobs and in huge imaginary trade deficeits etc, but I digress......

Yes on the 18 drinking age. If you can go overseas and die for your country, you should be able to legally drink a beer.
No for legal marijuanna. Even though it is safer than alcohol: it's not physically addictive, the death rates are much lower, it's impossible to overdose, ect. It is a legit medical drug, and it's damn fun to use, but i do not think it should be legal. Mainly because it will open a flood gate of lawsuits, new legal issues, and lots of time that could be devoted to other things. The fact that it's illegal isn't really going to stop anyone anyway.

Provided nobody else is wrongfully injured by the exercise of one's freedoms, the government has no business restricting conduct of any kind. However, and I think Matthew O. had this right, in allowing drug legalization or a lower drinking age, it is the obligation of the person exercising his or her individual freedom to individually face the consequences of the same. Still, to answer your question, absolutely yes.

I don't believe in legalizing marijuana - but I do believe they should lower the drinking age to 18.
THis is quite a controversy, but I have a 19 year old. He happens to live at home while attending a Jr. College - but if he were away at school - he would be drinking illegally. Most teens between the age of 18-20 drink and they are away at school.
They get DUI's because they are driving around and sneaking it - and then they are marked for life and that's such a rough way to start out..
They're not going to stop and they don't learn from other's mistakes so - just legalize it -

I agree if you can be old enough to fight for your country you should be able to do what everybody else is.18 is considered a legal adult in everything but drinking.
And even though i agree marijuana is probably worse being illegal then legal because of the hype it gets do we really need the fast food companies to have more business .
Isnt american fat enough as it is?
