Everybody likes people from New Zealand. You Kiwi's are culturally androgenous to us, meaning we don't know enough about your culture to find any differences or threats. Most people will only know one or two key facts about New Zealand. And we all love the accents.

Really depends on where you go. Being an english speaker and not "looking" foreign can't hurt. You'll probably run into a lot of ignorance (I'd plan on explaining that New Zealand is not part of Australia repeatedly, lol), but friendliness too. Expect some headaches, but nothing traumatic. All the best in your new life.
