He's the only thing that seems to be able to stop the Tribe. Who cares if it's non-standard to run with the same pitcher two games in a row? If the Sox lose tomorrow, it's all over.

Good idea. I am sure he will make it through the warm up pitches.

His agent wouldn't even let him do that, it's modern day suicide for an arm.

No. He should have pitched game 4. He doesn't have enough rest to be effective again. You may get 2 or 3 innings out of him and then need to go to the bullpen too early. Schilling is the best bet right now. However, Dice-K is such a wild card for game 7. He has a great home record, but he still hasn't lived up to the hype. If Beckett had gone in game 4, he would have been ready for game 7. In which case, assuming he won game 4, all the Sox would have needed was a win out of either Schilling or Dice-K.

If Brad Lidge shouldn't close 2 games in a row, Beckett shouldn't start 2 games.

Really, though, why would you do that? Nobody pitches on 1 day of rest.

No, but should this series go to a seventh game, that is where Beckett should be on call to pitch out of the 'pen for a couple of innings if needed.

He's done that before in a game 7 setting, so there's no reason why it couldn't be asked of him...especially considering that Dice-K would be the starter, and everyone knows how shaky he has been.

i could desire to make certain a 2 hour pitching duel between those 2 pitchers. Beckett has been superb of previous due, however the Yankees are by way of beat the purple Sox, and could win this interest. The managers eliminate pitchers too as we talk so it relatively is puzzling to foretell if Burnett gets the win, yet I are anticipating he will. rejoice with the interest!

I think Francona has made a couple managing goofs...He should have made sure that Beckett pitches game 1, 4, and then 7 if necessary...Also, to count on Dice K and Wakefield for all the marbles is damn risky...They are both sort of inconsistent...I'm wondering why Lester isn't pitching in the playoffs in place of one of them...

no they shouldn't because it not good putting another good pitcher after the day he plays he need at least 2 -3 day rest, if he doesnt rest maybe hid arm might sore up and start reacting then might get injured red sox dont want that to ahppen to there best pitcher. so if the red sox win tonight they might think about putting him in game 7 for at least 5 inning then put another reliever like okajima then there closer paplebon.

This would NEVER happen in major league baseball. Schill will pitch game 6 and either Dice-K or Wake will pitch game 7 if they make it to game 7. I hope they do. Go SOX!

No way! If pitchers have a low success rate on 3 days rest, why would you even test 2 days?

And I quote Manny.....

" Who cares if we lose, it's not like it's the end of the world. There is always next year" (or at least, something like that)

I would not start Beckett because he could screw up his arm for next season. Why do that just for one playoff game? I understand that it is the playoffs, but like Manny said, there is always next year. Let Beckett come back next year and carry the team even further.

Shilling needs to go Saturday and then Beckett can pitch the last game
