With my pap?

It is standard of care for an HPV test to follow a Pap that has found abnormal cell changes.

Some doctors do order an HPV test for all Pap smears.

A Pap smear can miss abnormal cell changes so I feel that it is important to have the HPV test run with all our Pap smears.

Ask your doctor what is his protocol for running the HPV test does he do it for all Pap smears or only after abnormal cell changes? I always ask for HPV testing regardless of my Pap smear if one was to refuse I would ask that they document my medical records that the doctor refuse HPV testing.

I wish you well.

A pap can't really tell if you have HPV. My recent paps came out normal... but my gyno did another test to see if I had HPV. What they do first is apply viniger and some kinda acid stuff to you're vaginal area to look for white blood cells and anything else that would look abnormal. The viniger and acid helps thing appear better. After that they inject you with a needel inside you're labia area to numb you.. which is the worse part... but the pain only lasts a few seconds. After that they do a biopsy and snip a tiny peice off you which you cant even feel. Then they send out you're tests. But I tell ya... getting the biopsy done will be worth it. It is always better to be safe than sorry. It will take a few days for you're skin to heal. Applying Vaseline and taking baths help heal the skin quicker.

Do you mean the test or the vaccine?

It is for girls ages 9 to 26.

So you would be out of the age range.
