First think of 10 reasons as to why. Then 3 points to back up each of your reasons. Then one point to disagree with each of your reasons. Then 2 answers that refute each of the disagreements. A strong opening and a strong conclusion. This will make about a 3 page paper. 4 reasons should do a 1 page paper.

Despite the judgements and pronouncements in the press whenever there is a trial that give the indication that "innocent until proven guilty" is no longer valid, that is not the case. The press is not a judge or jury. The court system in this country, the finest in the world, is still set up so that the state must prove its case, and the defendent does not have to prove anything, or take the stand, because until the state proves it, the defendent is innocent. We even go out of our way to ensure the defendent does not appear before the court in prison/jail garb so they won't be inclined to assume his guilt.

It's not a perfect system, but I know of none more fair and know many far worse.

Call it the "Presumption of Innocence". The concept is that every person is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

It creates a situation where someone is only guilty if the state can prove them to be guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

It does not mean that a person is, in fact, innocent. It just means that the state has not yet proven them guilty. Only when someone is acquitted are they found to be innocent.

The concept still exists, however, condemnation by the public at large is not governed by the presumptions that the state must abide by.

Ummmm.... there are a slew of men in Cuba right now that would disagree that our system is set up that all men are innocent until proven guilty.

The "Patriot Act" (makes you not want to call yourself a patriot) has effectively relieved us of our right to Habeus Corpus.

You too could be called an enemy combatant by any federal agency and find yourself locked away with no rights whatsoever. Don't get too comfy.

All men are innocent until proven to seem guilty. I believe that it's impossible to make a 100% effecient system but were pretty close.

It does not matter if a person believes it or not it is how are system is set up. In our system it is the state that must prove beyond a reasonable doubt a person is guilty. It is far easier to have to have someone prove there case against you than prove your case against them.
