ok nicely we could see your maybes are: ferret.- could be costly and you need to play with them a minimum of an hour an afternoon, and there could be a minimum of two. And their cages can get to smelling undesirable. So on your description, ferrets in all probability the suitable decision may be no. and for iguana, snake, scorpion, spider, and chicken- i do no longer know lots approximately yet they're all small and don't choose quite a number of area, so do quite a number of learn till now getting any. yet another decision could be a hamster. I even have my own little hammy precise now and he's so playful and exciting and cute! they're very energetic and are very small and are not getting in absolutely everyone's way. Their cage could be wiped sparkling as quickly as each and every week and that they do no longer smell. So a hamster may be a solid decision too! livelaughlove ?

You might want to consider a rodent. From my understanding, while they still require work and time with you, they aren't as high maintanence as other pets.
Things like hamsters, rats, mice, guinea pigs...
If you are considering a bird, please note that the parrot species (which does include parakeets and cockatiels) are anything but low maintanence. Some parrots require more work than any dog or cat.
Finches, however, don't require nearly as much work as parrots. You still need to chop veges, etc every day for them though. But they are more pets for looking at, and don't require you to play with them. Just remember to never, ever get a single finch, they are social creatures.

Rabbits are awesome if you get them young, and can train them. They are smaller than most dogs or cats, and you can even train them to use a litter box of sorts. They can be kept in a cage, or you can let them hop around your house if there are litter box trained. They do need to have constant food and water, but if you get a large bag of alfalfa mix you should be good for a while... plus you can give them treats like carrots or lettuce.
We have had our rabbits since they were first weaned from their mother and could eat on their own. They will come to me and lick my hand. They like to play with small balls and push them around. This would be a great starter pet especially if you get a smaller breed.
Good luck with your pet search!

Rats make great pets. They're very playful and friendly and have been described as having a dog-like personality. They aren't quite as nocturnal as hamsters and will usually come out and play during daylight hours.

Check out a "sugarglider." They are small, clean, cuddly, and cute. Some people even carry them to work in a pocket. If I didn't have a cat...which would think it was a tasty toy, I'd have one too.

gecko! there are some very low maintenence, sweet geckos that are fine in relatively small tanks and adorable.
african fat tailed gecko, leopard gecko, golden gecko, mourning gecko.
or a tree frog. those are fun to watch and some plants can attract flies (for their food) so your house never has flies and you don't need to feed them. (some species)
newts and salamanders are also cute choices. i have a fire salamander and a fire bellied newt that are both incredibly easy to take care of and fun to watch/feed.

ferrets? not entirely low maintenance but cute and entertaining. They sleep alot.
or what about a bird. Our parakeet was very interactive and cute...but it flung seeds everywhere. Birds are messy

Ferretts are great...but they need a lot of socialization. Which means...you have to spend a bit of time with them on a daily basis.
