He did this to appease the gay mafia who are hijacking our schools. It seems that gays are "uncomfortable" with those words because it assumes that all parents are straight. Let's see what words we can ban next. This is insane!

I live in CA and this hasnt happened yet....its in the works. There also taking "one nation under god" out of the pledge of alliance. There is no rock solid support that this will even pass...its to ridiculous. It is being talked about more over cause it looks like CA will now do gay marriages. Yes we have the most fruitcakes!

Personally I think its ridiculous and there problem. Its just a way to get voters....gay voters mainly.

I am gay and that is ridiculous. The majority of gays are not out to convert anyone to take away from others, all we want is equality. Banning those words is not striving for equality and it's not going to help gays get equal rights and become integrated into society. The words mom and dad or husband and wife are not offensive. Those words are not derogatory or degrading towards gays in any way. I guess some over zealous people would assume that if a person is straight they must be anti gay but that is ludicrous. If we cannot work with the rest of society we will never get what we rightly deserve.

This is a lie and an anti-gay scare tactic. If you look back at the ERA (Equal Rights Amendment) of the 1970's, you will find radical anti-gay activists like Phyllis Schlafly claiming that giving women equal rights would lead to gay marriage and everyone using the same restrooms. It's the same tactic--pick the most outrageous claim and repeat it over and over until people believe it. Never mind that it has no basis in reality. The problem with the anti-gay, pro-homophobia groups in California (where I live) is that they are losing so often that they are becoming desperate. Rather than protect students from discrimination and bullying, they prefer to make incendiary, outlandish claims in a misguided effort to normalize homophobia. The sad thing is that their sin of homophobia is more important to them than protecting our State's school children.

Maybe it's being done because so many kids are not being raised by mom and dad, but grandma and grandpa. Maybe it's because divorce rates are so high, or people don't take the responsibility of being a parent, using the words "mom and dad" are insensitive to a child's current living conditions. Inner city schools don't always have children who come from traditional "All American" idealistic households. How else would you approach a child with emotional instability due to their socioeconimical environment?

yeah michaelsavage.com.

that is a great first hand source.

I have a homework assignment for you, due here tomorrow:

1 - run up and down the halls of school shouting "mom and dad". See if you get in toruble for the content of your message, or running and shouting and being disruptive. Let us know :)

2 - ask all your teachers to review to you the ways to find and evaluate first hand choices, and also how to read critically and identify persuasive techniques that are not in your interests. also report back to us tomorrow.

Someone obsessed with power will do anything to keep it.

Whether I mean the "gay mafia" or the "governor" is up to you since both apply.

That's horrible and pointless. Luckily, it's also not true. It didn't happen, it's just typical over-the-top rhetoric.

Read the text of the bill to see the truth. That is, if the truth is something you're interested in.

As with all matters that affect people, whether it be ten people or ten million, there are no simple answers. Banning words, however, is not one of them.
Our schools are there to inspire people to think. What must they be thinking of a system that bans words - or even thought?

I think he is going to have an uprising on his hands if he keeps going the way he is.

For a guy that really wants a shot at changing the US laws for becoming president, he is doing a lot to turn the people against him.

I haven't heard about that yet but that is ridiculous! Okay so gays who have children are going to have 2 moms or 2 dads so they are going to use those terms.
