Ann S. is wrong, he usually doesn't write the screenplays to these movies. Of the 106 entries in imdb.com, I count 4 features that he wrote the script for (Cat's Eye, Creepshow, Pet Sematary, Sleepwalkers).
That being said, Shawshank Redemption is the best overall and The Shining is the best horror/thriller movie. Of the movies based on his novels, short stories, etc.

Well, the movies that Stephen King has had a hand in hasn't come out very well. The ones that he has nothing to do with usually come out better. My favorite would be The Green Mile or Shawshank Redemption.

The e book. that's uncommon for a movie to outdo the e book or at situations even carry a candle. Stephen King's books, in my view, a ways out value the flicks made out of them. there is particularly purely one e book i've got examine the place the movie certainly holds rank, and that became Thomas Harris' 'The Silence of the Lambs'.....all a thank you to the main suitable line..'i'm having an previous pal for dinner.' 'The Lord of the rings' trilogy might persist with an extensive 2d, even nevertheless plenty became surpassed over of the flicks, Peter Jackson did do them justice.

Well, he hasn't made a movie, but the best movie rendition of a Stephen King novel is The Green Mile.

The best adaptations as far as I'm concerned are Misery and Carrie. These movies kept the essence of his stories and didn't change everything for the movie screen.
Of course some things have to be adapted to the screen but I thought these were 2 of the best.

Carrie, Dolores Claiborne, and Misery are my personal favorite adaptations of his books (in that order), but none of those appear to be movies he actually worked on (according to IMDB)
IMDB only list 9 movies he produced and 16 that he appeared in (he was in 1 episode of Frasier). Of the 9 he produced I would have to vote for Storm of the Century. Of the ones he appeared in, I would vote for "Thinner" with "Storm of the Century" (which is a mini-series, not a movie) as a close second.
