Nope, not regrettable. In the big scheme of life dances don't really matter.

No, I don't think so. I missed mine I wasn't allowed to "date" until I was 16 so I missed a lot of dances, then after I turned 16 I mostly dated older guys that didn't want to go back to high school even if it was just for a dance. I don't regret it one bit. My sister went to ever dance and now she has a closet full of dresses that she can't wear anywhere, but she doesn't want to throw them out because the were so much money. High school is stupid anyway. Just study and get it over with so you can get on with your life. :)

Just don't make the mistake of hanging back from doing things because you are afraid everyone will talk about you or something. Actually, they have more important things on their mind like worrying who is talking about them!
The fact you are asking means it has some importance. If nothing else, join the people standing and sitting.
Watch how they dance. Watch how everyone just kind of does what feels right for them. Some people(like me) overcome being loners by taking a chance. I was raised for awhile on a little farm. I was so backward. But I knew it and kept trying and kids want you to succeed. Look at all the posts you got. They don't want to see you fail. Whatever you decide, don't not go out of fear of others. There are plenty there, afraid, but they are there cause they don't want to be left out. Be like that. Your life will fill up and fast.
Good luck and
a wee prayer

I never went to a school dance and get ever so envious when people reminice about theirs and I dont have the option to join in.
Are your friends going? Do the have dates?
Why don't you make a pact to go together without dates and just have a fun night out together?
That way you went, you don't have to dance if you don't want to and a date isn't an issue because you'll be with friends and if a boy asks you for a dance you can make the choice and not feel obliged because he is your date

LOL no, it's not a big deal. I'm a senior and I've yet to go to a dance. don't sweat it. It's just a bunch of people wiggling around hoping they don't look too stupid and munching on snacks. Nothing spectacular. No drama. It's cool.

Not a big deal. Don't go if you don't want to go.
Some people go to every dance. Some people go to only a few. Some never go at all.
I would prefer going only to a few, because those are the most memorable.

date or not, go and enjoy, you will always remember your first school dance. And any way you never know who you might meet. get a bit of confidence and Go Go Go.

It really shouldn't be that life changing if you don't go.
Even if you can't dance, you can just hang out with your few friends.
There shouldn't be any pressure.
Just have fun, whether you have a date or not.

On the scale of big deal to not a big deal, this one ranks as not a deal at all.
