I was wondering what were some of your funny "quirks" that you have noticed that some other mom's don't do?
For me, I HAVE to record how much and when my daughter eats! I have done this since the day she was born. I just write down the time and how many ounces she consumes. I first started this because my daughter was a not a big eater when she was a newborn, so the doctor would always ask how many ounces in a day she would eat.
Now, it's become a habit. I actually make her grandparents write it down too, if they are watching her. My husband always laughs at me, but it's something that makes me feel better.
What is one of your funny(or not funny) parenting habits that you always do.

I have named my son's teeth as they come in. He has four now and they are Fred, George, Stanley and Buford. He's currently teething, so I am eagerly anticipating the arrival of Wesley!

I record the amount he sleeps and when he goes down for naps....I am just trying to find a pattern as he is 7 months old and doesn't seem to have one. Some days he sleeps 9 hr nights, other days 13 hrs at night...some days he only cat naps, other days he naps long naps...The books say the should be developing a pattern by now but it is so bs!

My son is not (and never has been) a morning person. In fact, he is downright grumpy no matter how much sleep he gets. When he refuses to get up, I sing "bad opera" to him in my loudest, worst and most exaggerated operatic voice. I have his grandmother doing it when he does a sleepover and he gives her a hard time (she's kinda tone deaf, too). It makes him hide his face because he is laughing. Now that he is old enough, he does bad opera in the shower.

that's a habit to assert it lower back, yet once I say it, i for my area propose it. i know what you propose inspite of the indisputable fact that once you're saying that it relatively is just one thing to assert because of the fact each and every time I babysit, the night would not experience finished devoid of asserting it no rely who it relatively is to. I in simple terms could say it till now i bypass to mattress.

When my son was very young, I had a way of telling if he was being truthful. I told him that I could smell his hair to tell if he was lying. All I had to do was take a sniff of his hair and make a statement like, "Oh, that smells like a lie!" Then he told me the rest...If he was lying he would confess because I had "caught" him. If he adamantly insisted that he actually was telling the truth, I would take a 2nd sniff test and say that it was my fault-now I could tell that he was actually telling the truth because I got a bigger whiff. It worked for the longest time. We laugh about it now!

amosun is correct- it is thinking ahead. We have a child with autism and I had learned early on to think ahead to avoid "meltdowns" and it works. We now use it with our baby- what is going to set her off- something she gets ahold of that she cannot have (safety) etc. She is now just 14 months old and it happens often that she wants something of our sons that she cannot have.

I let my kids speak their minds, it's kinda funny to watch them talk like they know more than I do. Normal things that kids do that most parents would yell at their kids about, we laugh about it, because I want them to know it's ok to make mistakes, it's good to have a positive life.

And no I would never let them get away everything we do have time outs to, we just use positive reinforcment!!

My parents friends, who are gynecologists, don't allow their 4 year old daughter to eat candy but they serve cake (from jewel or similar) to their daughter every day. I dont find that weird but stupid, no offense to them.
