Since he's already 8 months old, I'd skip an actual high chair (he won't need the extra support with sitting that a high chair can provide). Instead I'd suggest a booster seat style that can be attached to one of your existing dining chairs. Plus, when you go visit grandma and grandpa (or vacation, friends, etc), you can fold it up compactly and take it with you. Here's a good one for you to consider: http://www.amazon.com/Fisher-Price-Healthy-Care-Booster-Seat/dp/B0000DEW8N/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/105-1208642-9886859?ie=UTF8&s=baby-products&qid=1192818709&sr=8-1

I bought a highchair from Graco. It was on sale for around $35.00. I like it a lot and think it is sturdy enough. It reclines and has a removable tray. If you are planning on have another child I would recommend getting a highchair that has a five point harness. When my son was 4 months old we had a hard time with him sitting in his high chair, because he was not able to sit up yet.

We bought a Fisher price Space Saver. Reason being is that room was our issue. You can put it on any chair and even bring it over to a friend's house if you need to (very compact). I love it as it has removable trays, nice comfy padding and cost about $80 Canadian.

I've been using an Evenflo Expressions for my 12-month-old. It folds up, has different heights, the tray is removable and has a dishwasher-safe insert, as well as 4 different positions, there's a removable toy (which is interchangable with the evenflo exercauser toys)..the list goes on. You can find out more about it here: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=4366135

i just ordered the fisher price healthy care rainforest high chair - it actually got the best rating on many websites - its cute and it has a great toy - only annoying thing is if the child is completely upright you have to totally remove the tray to take them out that is the ONLY complaint i have

I agree, go with the booster. I couldnt stand our high chair, it got super yucky and was so hard to clean because it had all these special add ons too it. Love the booster seat, much less to clean, much easier on space.

I've looked into the Graco Contempo and it has good ratings. It has a great color selection and it folds up and is easily stored.
