Sure alter the clock! She will never know how many miles you traveled!.... prolly because "clocks" tell time... not mileage. I believe the word you are looking for is odometer. The odometer on a car tells the mileage traveled.
However seeing as you are not too bright to begin, I suggest you skip the illegal activity know as "rolling back the odometer" and not worry about the wife. She knows already.

Yes, set the clock back to the time you left, Mr. Time Traveler.
Also, follow arlanymor's advice. The car should be a Delorean.

yes it can be done, but its illegal!! There are some places or people that do this but it does cost a bit. (local paper perhaps). Why don't you want your wife to find out how far you have driven each day?? I shouldn't think she is 'silly' all wives know what there husband is doing!! YOU may not think so, but watch out, especially if you think you are covering your tracks!!

Stop cheating on your wife. If she's asking where you have been all day then she has a gut feeling that you are already doing it. And is it really worth the trouble?
If you are not cheating on her, the stop being a D@#$ about her asking. Maybe she is lonely for attention and wants to feel apart of your everyday life.
Either way, stop!

it is illegal to change the setting on your odometer.
Question is, why is your wife checking your mileage. Either you are untrustworthy or she is a psycho. Best idea is to keep the car and change the wife. - Everyone happy.
