he removed the heating cell and told me that its useless and only new cars have them or something. anyways the car doesnt make a rattling noise anymore but was the heating cell important?

yeah its the heating shield or some kind of metal plates covering some exhaust area pipeings

I guess you mean the heat shield around the exhaust area.
In which case he's probably right.

If you are reffering to the heater core, this can be removed and bypassed. Your heater won't work, but the car will run.

If you are reffering to the heat shield (above your exhaust), then it is necessary to leave it on, even if it makes rattling noise. The heat shield displaces the intense heat generated by the exhaust system, preventing the car from possibly catching fire.

Never heard of a heating cell, unless you mean the block heater? If so these are only used in cold climates to keep the engine warm enough to start easily.

Well what heating cell are you refering to ? Where was it and what did it do?
IF like the other answer is the heatshield on the bottom of the car, it is inportent. It prevents the heat from say touching your car say if you park it on grass. It could cause a fire and it is only put there for your safty.
