I'm going to be there for a couple days near the Botanic Garden. What is there to do nearby in terms of Pubs, Movies, and general entertainment.

I also want to know if there is a good boxing gym I can work out at while I'm there. A real one!

There are some places that amateur boxers in St. Louis work out at but they are not the kind of places that a tourist would want to go to. If you are going to be in the shaw neighborhood by the garden, I'd suggest looking at the restaurants and bars along south grand or in the Grove neighborhood on Manchester. They are a little ethnic and trendy but fun places to go. If you like Italian, there is always the Hill neighborhood and if the weather is good sit outside at Harrys on Southwest with a hamburger and a beer. The closest movie is at the Chase Park Plaza at Kingshighway and Lindell or at the Masonic Temple on Lindell.

The area around the new Cardinals baseball stadium and around where the Rams play has lots of pubs and bars that can be a lot of fun. Plus its all within walking distance of the Arch... which can be fun at night.

As for movies... the big plexes are out in the suburbs. you are going to have to go out to University City along I-70 to hit a big mall and lots of movie complexes.

You can also try Union Station. Lots of shopping and general wandering around fun.

Boxing... don't know. But if you get drunk enough at the bar, just say to a Cardinals fan "Yah, the Royals were the better team in 85 and they won the World Series fair and square". You will get lots of boxing action then. ;)

I grew up in St. Louis many years ago. The only recreational places to work out at (beside the YMCA) was Tandy Rec Center, Wohls Gym and Matthew Dickey Gym. These was the gyms where Sonny Listen, Michael Spinks and Leon Spinks got their start. I don't know whether they're still open now.

Check out the South Broadway Athletic Association. About two miles directly from the arch. You may also want to check with the Missouri Athletic Association. about three miles east of the Arch on Washington Ave. I think. Good Luck.

-Go to a Blues game. Fun entertainment.
-I live near a Martial Arts school names USA Martial Arts, but it's in Eureka, MO. Probably about 25 minutes away. I think there's a place off Kingshighway or Hampton.
-Google it.
