A lid has become stuck to the pan. We've tried soaking it in water, putting it in the fridge and the freezer. Nothing has worked.

cooling and moisture is what caused the suction. Just like the others said heat it a little and it will come right off with the pressure of the steam.

Here is a neat experiment you can do too show you what I mean. Get a pan with about a half inch of cool water on the bottom. Set it beside the stove. Take an aluminum can and put a little water in it. Heat the can on the burner til you see steam coming out of the top. Take some tongs and grab the can and quickly flip it upside down into the pan of water.

This is why you have so much pressure on the outside of the pan/lid and cant get it open.

Like most have said, just heat up your pan. After a bit it should pop off. It doesn't even need to be real hot. Enough to build a bit of pressure.

In my case; if the lid is being real stubborn, even after heating the pot up, grab a rubber mallet (or a hammer). Holding the knob/handle of the lid, lightly tap on the lip edge of the pot while pulling the lid. It did the trick nicely.

Hope that helped!

Run or pour hot water over it first. If you heat it on the stove, and the cover is really wedged on tight, it may BLOW THE COVER OFF or BLOW THE POT UP and maim or kill you.
