Driving my Chevy to the levee. I don't see how that brilliant song is a tribute to Buddy Holley or whoever. I thought it was kind an imagery of iconic America, What makes America different, etc. How is it that you are all saying this particular day? That's wack if you ask me and shows how pop culture can be created out of thin air.

I was still imagining I was not the only one living for today
when they killed the music away
the peace train was still on it's magic carpet ride
more than just friscans had flowers in thier hair
and more than alice could answer questions one might ask
strange days were blowing through the wind
the stairway to heaven still had dreamweavers
the kids were all right I cant explain someone got a piece of my heart
well I dig rock and roll music but we got to get out of this place
theres a man with a gun over there and he aint no sunshine superman daytripper on a magical mystery tour
nowhere man she's not there lucky man gotta get a hold on me
I wanna take you higher I shoulda known better all my loving light my fire Im happy just to dance with you
over the hillls and far away the way we were leaving on a jet plane love is all around gimmie some loving I am the walrus will the circle be unbroken
I wanna be free it dont come easy dont fear the reaper
what the world needs now that Morning has broken
There's something happening here
What it is ain't exactly clear
There's a man with a gun over there
Telling me I got to beware
I think it's time we stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
There's battle lines being drawn
Nobody's right if everybody's wrong
Young people speaking their minds
Getting so much resistance from behind
I think it's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
What a field-day for the heat
A thousand people in the street
Singing songs and carrying signs
Mostly say, hooray for our side
It's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep
It starts when you're always afraid
You step out of line, the man come and take you away
We better stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, now, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

I don't remember the day he died. Years later, when I started loving music, I heard about him and loved this song. I should say that for me, the music was born with songs like the "the day the music died".

I remember the day Baby Diego died. He was the youngest kid on earth. The whole world went into mourning, like all the hope had been lost. Baby Diego was only 12. Now reports suggest that an 18 year old girl in France may be the youngest person alive.
Where were you, the day Baby Diego was killed?
