Why do people go into a question and rate perfectly good and correct answers with negative ratings? Go get a life.

The simple answer is that some people are immature and childish and can't bear to see someone else possible get that '10 point' prize. I do agree that it's pathetic (I like to think most of those who do this are children but, sadly, I do suspect quite a few adults are in this silly habit too) but there you go. There will always be idiots in this world who get pent up over the smallest things.

The only time that it bothers me is if I give an answer that is medically or legally correct. Then the thumbs downs worry me because I'm afraid that the question asker will take that as a sign that my answer cannot be trusted. However, I also feel that most medical and legal questions don't really belong on here due to the inherent risk that someone will take an answer that someone gives as correct, when in actuality it may cause them harm. Generally, if I do give an answer that is factually based rather than opinion based I try to include sources so that the question asker has more information than the paragraph or two answer that I have provided.

Answers to questions like yours I am humored by thumbs down. This is merely an explanation of my reasoning, and others will disagree or agree and that is their right, but it is also my right to laugh about what a moron they are for not agreeing with me ;)

LOL. Personally I think people take this way 2 personally. If the answers getting negative ratings then its not "perfectly good and correct answer" to everyone. Don't worry 2 much about it. I'm sure there are people who just thumbs down cause they're jerks. As long as your giving your best answer don't worry.

Because sometimes people disagree. What you may think is a perfectly goo answer, another may find to be incorrect and a bad answer.
Why does it matter, I am willing to bet you have given a thumbs down on an answer that someone else thought was perfectly good.
That is the great thing about yahoo answers, so many different views and opinions.

A 'perfectly good' answer for one person could be considered a bad answer by another...the answers are generally opinions...and opinions are subjective.

Other people, on the other hand, are Judgy McJudgersons.

I personally find it funny when I've answered with an example of something that worked for our family, and it gets a thumbs down...it worked for us...doesn't mean it'll necessarily work for you, or might not be what you'd have tried, but it doesn't make it any less valid...:)

everyone has their own opinion and your opionion is not the only right answer nor is mine its just personally how we feel. I may think a answer is a bad one but you may think its the best. Just difference of how we feel about things.

LOL i have wondered this myself. Maybe people are jealous that you have given such a good answer!
Sad huh?
When I first started this it would bother me. But then I got a grip on it and realized there are a lot of idiots on here that think they know everything.

Some people just like being rude, some just disagree.

What on earth difference does it make to you? Ratings dont have anything to do with anything. You get points based on who picks your answer. I get thumbs down all the time, but still the best answer on those answers.

Who the hell cares who rates what?

Sounds like you're in need of getting a life.
