I have an HP lcd monitor with the soft screen - the instructions say to clean with a damp cloth - but I have two kids and two godchildren who use this computer and I'm needing something a little stronger than plain water. What is safe to use on these soft plastic screens?

A damp or dry cloth.

If you're going to use a solvent cleaning agent, dilute it with warm water first. Some LCD surfaces may become discolored if full strengths are used.

I normally turn off the monitor and use HOT water with a cloth. Scrub gently in circular motions. It may take a while, but will usually remove grandchild gunk.

If you have a Best Buy in your area, go into the TV section and get a bottle of 'Monster ScreenClean' it comes in a liquid and a Monster Wipe which is extremely soft.

I spray on the cloth and wipe my LCD Screen and its fantastic. Takes off the spittle marks and finger drags where someone pointed at something. 'Hey Look, here's your picture' sort of thing with kids.

Works Great

Sarge

I use glasses cleaning liquid. This is USUALLY safe, as long as it doesn't have powerful chemicals or anything. Other than that, DO NOT use regular cloth. Use microfiber cloths to clean computer screens because it won't scratch and it won't leave dust/fragments of the cloth on the screen. They can easily be found at most electronics stores.

water, chemicals may ruin it . If you've ever observed what ammonia does to Plexiglas's, you would not want that to happen to your screen. They do have screen that can be put over these screens to protect them, And you need to instruct them to not touch the screen. It will save you a lot of head aches down the road.

they actually sell those monitor wipes that have liquid inside the cloth. Each cloth you use is capable of cleaning the whole monitor. They are not that expensive
