My ex cheated and we were divorced in May--he sought the divorce, not me.

REAL cheaters ONLY feel "bad" if/when they get caught. If they do feel bad, it's only for maybe 5-10 minutes(cause they realize that it was a bad thing to do to someone they love). But part of the thrill of cheating is the getting away with it.
In my opinion, anyone that says A or C is fulla crap.
Ending a marriage would be brutal. And anyone feeling bad about the cheating part is ONLY because their marriage is over !! If they didn't get caught in the first place, they wouldn't feel a bit of remorse.
The answer is B !! Well, except for the probable few that actually wanted a seperation/divorce in the first place - in that case, it would be D.

I've not lived this situation but I would think that the marriage wasn't going well for me to have felt like I wanted to step-out on him so I'd probably just feel bad because I cheated (apparently the marriage was on its way out anyway).

Cheating is crummy...baaaaaaaad karma. I sometimes wonder if I was a cheater in a former life, and that's why my dating life this time 'round audits so badly.

I would assume B because your marraige ended.
No one cheats for no reason (unless your a horn dog lol)
But chances are, if you were pushed to cheat, then the marraige wasnt working out much anyway. There should be deeper issues to address other than just who cheated on who. My dad cheated on my mom after 15 years of marraige, and to be honest she treats him so badly (in my eyes) that I cant say its 100% his fault.

Mary, if indeed this was to happen I like to think that my response would be (C). But today it seems that many people look at relationships the same as majority of the rest of our world, as disposable. So therefore there is not the guilt associated with cheating like there was not that many years ago.

a. a person cheats because they are unhappy and already are feeling bad

b. most people feel bad when their marriage ends even if they are the one ending it. But you can be happy and sad at the same time. They may feel bad that they failed but happy that they are out of a bad situation

Never cheated, and i dont think i will (though i never say never) I have been cheated on and it hurts like hell!! i don't want to cause the same pain to someone that doesn't deserve it...

Remember what goes around comes around and if you did that you should feel BAD!!!! and be prepared... life always returns what you have given...

I wouldn't cheat. Period. Ever. If things were THAT bad that I WANTED to cheat, I would have the integrity to formally leave the situation, before engaging in anything with anyone else.

It would have to be A. Because if a person cheats, they should expect the mariage to end in sooner or later.
