Is it just me but are these people complete idiots?

This is by far the stupidest thing I've ever heard and the ONLY reason those dog store owners should even have a ridiculous rule like that is if a pet were being abused....which was HARDLY the case here.

I think they just hung themselves with their ridiculous pride and stupidity.

Hey Chris, watch for youself, it was pretty heartfelt. I didn't think she said anything wrong.

And Pookie, I understand completely, and that is exactly the point, as you just stated. She should have conceded in this case, confidentially. You have to use judgment and common sense and bend in some cases.

And in Canada we have the Humane Society which looks after strays and all kinds of critters so no idea what a "pet rescue is" but gather it's similar, only I've never heard of "we're taking it back if it doesn't work out"....if only foster homes worked that way.

Plus they were referred to as OWNERS. The Humane Society is an agency, likely non-profit and no one "owns" them. You abuse a pet you are charged, plain and simple.

Ooooh, Amnesty, be careful or you're gonna hurt yourself. Now go have a valium and lie down.

Actually I find the whole thing amusing, I mean Ellen crying that was even funnier than watching the whole Rosie yelling match.

Really it's only a dog rescue people, it just goes to show you how fanatic these people are. Taking a dog away from Children..wooooo..they are really afraid of children harming this dog. bunch of freaks!

Rescues (not stores) usually have this requirement so that they can keep track of the animal. You'd be amazed what people go through to adopt a rescue and then we find out they've been turned into a shelter or put out on the streets yet again. We take them back no questions asked. HOWEVER, as for this particular case and that they were dealing with a celebrity I believe they should have checked the new owners out and let them keep the dog. Anyone else they should have played by the rules but taking the dog away (though they had every right to per contract) in this case was just asking for trouble and is giving rescues everywhere a bad rap.

I just don't understand what the big deal is. There are missing children disappearing each day and never get press time. Ellen's dog goes to the hairdresser and people are up in arms. I don't understand the media or people.

I am not an Ellen fan but when I saw and heard that on TV,
my heart went out to her. You could see the pain she was
feeling. I think that the reason the animal people will not
return it is because they said, "we will not let celebrities rule
us or tell us what to do." They are the ignorant ones, not
Ellen.

i totally agree the poor dog is subjected to shock each time they relocate him if ellen purchased it & even if the clause re: a safe place, for all the owner of the store knew ellen might have been purchasing the dog as a gift for the family involved
now the family, ellen and the owner are making this poor dogs life miserable i'm sure this is sad & use of poor judgement on the owners part i believe hell if she pd that much for the dog she should be able to do with it as she darn well please

I agree - the lady from the agency said she wants to make a point that she cant be bullied and thats why she wont give the dog back. That is just plain dumb and not in the best interest of that poor dog who has now had 3 homes in just a few months

Yeah this whole thing is over top. I'm not much of a pet person at all. So I don't really have too much investment in any of this.

Ellen was way to over dramatic!

Hate to say. . .

I agree, they certainly hung themselves.
They absolutley did not have the any interest in the dog's well being. Dog Natzis!!
And part of their reasoning was that they don't allow dogs in households w/children under 14? WTF is that all about?

I could not agree with you more . I think they brought all this media attention and death threats upon themselves . Ellen was not the one who called the media and the police in on this ,the rescue did .

ELLEN is a complete idiot! These rescue places have rules - that's their right. If Ellen broke the rules, tough. If you don't like their rules, get the animal from some place else and SHUT UP ABOUT IT!
