Funny how you keep using "government cheese" as a slam against liberals when it was Reagan who put this program into place. I saw someone point this out to you days ago and you called them a liar and said that Wikipedia was good for nothing. I agree with that, so just for you I've accessed other references that prove it. Yep, I'm bored today or I wouldn't even have bothered with this lol.
President Ronald Reagan
Conservative Political Action Conference
Washington, DC
February 26, 1982
Reagan:
"But Washington's fascination with passing trends and one-day headlines can sometimes cause serious problems over in the West Wing of the White House—they cause them. There's the problem of leaks. Before we even announced the giveaway of surplus cheese, the warehouse mice had hired a lobbyist."

In places like South Los Angeles, Pacoima, and San Diego’s City Heights, working-class neighborhoods once proud with brightly painted homes and manicured lawns fell into decay as crack-heads crawled through the night streets searching for sustenance, and drug dealers guarded street corners with automatic firepower. The first of the month brought less cash flow and food stamps, thanks to Reagan’s tough-on-welfare stance, but he did let them eat cheese – surplus government cheese, long, cold blocks of square, orange cheese. For many in the ’hoods of America, that’s how Reagan will be remembered – for his petty, patronizing dairy overstock that became the butt of a novelty rap hit called “Rap Master Ronnie.”

The Open Door, May 4, 1982
During the past couple of month, thousands of grateful people lined up across the country to get five-pound blocks of American cheese, compliments of the federal government. These people may have been less grateful had they known why the government was giving the cheese away.
While President Reagan cannot be held responsible for the establishment of the mess called farm policy, he is accountable for the continuation of the programs which lead to the absurdity of transferring wealth from the country’s poor to the wealthier dairy farmers and for doing so in the disguise of a magnanimous giveaway.

As we learned when many of the non-poor joined long queues for Reagan cheese, Americans would stand in line for marmoset pelts if they were labeled "free." To encourage such grabbiness in 2009, Congress has earmarked $5 million for voucher advertising. Mark your calendars.

EDIT: Alias Smith & Jones:
You are one of the only people in this forum that can make me smile and groan all at the same time. I do appreciate the compliment, sincerely. You've seen, over and over, why I support Hillary Clinton. IF there were someone else that could impress me as much with their intelligence, resolve and strength, I would definitely consider them as well. Part of the flack I get is that she is just another politician willing to bow to corporate and lobbyist concerns. I've been a political cynic since the days of Watergate and the one effect it permanently left me with was to see politics from a realistic point of view. For me, realism means that a true political leader and strategist will use those who attempt to use them. I know Hillary takes money from corporations, and from lobbyists. The mistake that most people make is thinking they have her by the tail instead of the other way around. In the end she will take their money, without promises of favors (which she does not make), and they can knock on the Presidential door until their knuckles bleed. I'd LOVE to discuss this issue with you in greater detail than we can here, because we generally agree on so many issues, and you are a bright and sensible individual. If you are inclined to continue a discussion please contact me via email or from my 360 page. This forum provides little chance for real discussion.
Thanks, with affection, Elway.

Is that REALLY a giant cheese, or are you just excited to see me?
[EDIT to Elway] Oh, Elway Elway Elway... why does such a smart, eloquent person like you choose to support Hillary Clinton? There are seven other Democrats running... come over to one of them, we need you! ;-)

Pretty big wheel of cheese you have there. I could take it and sell it while you weren't looking and make a nice profit, but I'm not a republican.

I'm an Independent – hold it your own-self. It’s your cheese, not mine!
