There's a name for people who use "pulling out" as birth control. they're called "parents".

The allegedly NOT SAFE times, if you have a normal 28-day period, are from about the 8th day (after bleeding STARTS) to the 19th. However, nothing is guaranteed, and if you aren't regular 28 days, this can change a bit.

You can usually tell if you're ovulating because around that time, cervical mucus becomes thicker and stickier. (Some yuck factor involved). Check the appropriate web sites; you can find them with google for "cervical mucus". That's good if you're trying, but if you're trying not to, you have to stop having sex 5 days before you ovulate. That means you have to time this effect to see what days are not safe, use that as a guide for later months.

If he pulls out before (assuming he tells the truth...) there may still be a bit of leakage; especially if he's using a bit of stop-and-go to put it off as long as possible. 1 sperm is all it takes.

i would suggest you use real birth control if you don't want to get pregnant. It's far more reliable. Now that you've started having sex, it's not like you're going to stop (except when you go into labour).
