Torre's record pretty dictates that he can write his own ticket....who wouldn't want him may be the better question.

I would say more than 80% of the teams out there could use him as a manager but I think he will just retire because he has nothing to prove to baseball or the fans. For the Torre haters or negative responses to this question, how many current managers on any team, except maybe for Bobby Cox of the Braves has been with one team & had more winning seasons in a row than Joe. Red Sox, Tigers, Indians, Angels, any of those teams managers brought their team to play-offs for 12 straight years, 6 division titles & 4 World Series titles, I really don't think so.

I doubt it's about the money for Joe. He'd settle for less some where else. The guy is 67 years old and has plenty of dough. He was probably just sick of dealing with Steinbrenner and the NY media. He put a lot of time in with the Yanks and his era is over. Baseball is the longest season in all of professional sports. If you're 67 years old and traveling the country with a ball club, you're not in it for the money. He'll find some way to stay involved. It's really all the guy knows how to do. Life after baseball? There isn't such a thing.

I don't believe anyone is going to be able to match his salary with the Yankees & I don't believe that Joe really expects them to. I think he has 2 choices: retire or go somewhere else for less. I think he will go somewhere else for less. There are plenty of teams that would want him. He is a great coach, a great motivator, and players love him. He will be a stabilizing force for any team as well as a good coach. He will get offers. Don't worry.

Several general managers have already called his agent. Count on it. They know what he turned down and they know what they have to beat. The issue is whether he wants to manage a team like the Royals or the Astros after being in New York and managing a team like the Yankees.

i doubt torre left because of money! he left because why does he want to coach for a owner who threatens his job in public when the yankees cant get it together! Torre did a great job coming back from 14 1/2 it just wasnt enought to beat the Indians!! I am sure he will get plenty of offers!!!

I think that he should manage the team that he thinks could get into the world series with the yankees....it would be awesome if he (with another team) beat the yankees in the world series just to piss of steinbrenner.
