There will be mixed emotions. It's a business and the players really can't dwell on this.

They are pros--they will mourn a bit and then they will go on about their business. They've all played for many managers in their careers. Players threatening to leave because of Torre's shabby treatment aren't serious--it's their way to pay tribute to Torre, along with pre-negotiation posturing. If the Yankees offer them top dollar, they will stay, and they will say nice things about loyalty to the organization because that's part of their job.
It's the fans who get all emotional about this sort of thing--probably the ones who posted constant criticisms of Torre's pitching moves this season are the most hysterical of all.

most of them are there for the money, i'll be suprised if anybody, especially if a-rod leaves. The yankees need alot of work, first there owner steps down, then they give their manager a 1 year $5 million deal, and on top of that brian cashman still has his job. Joe torre was one of the best managers in the game, and still is, he won't have a heard time finding another job.

I'd like to see Girardi in there. He's played with the veterans and doesn't put up with any sh1t from the hot-headed younger ones. He's the spark they need. Let Mattingly wait a few years. I don't think he thinks he's ready.
