Do you think the handling of Joe Torre's future with the club was handled with any respect, dignity or class? He was a winner, even when they gave him crap and told him to get to the series with it. If they wanted to fire him, fire him. Don't insult the intelligence of everyone and say "he rejected our offer..."

The yankees were a wild card team. The Colorado Rockies finished the season wtih a better september record, and nobody is saying they're the most talented team.
They are a very average team. Great offensively and good bull pen, but no starters.
They essentially were the 94-era Rangers team that the Yankees beat up on before going to WS.
I personally feel they gave him a very raw deal. "a change needed to be made" yeah, thats why the players, fans, etc. were all backing Torre.

houy,
maybe "crap" is a little strong, but for them to be expected to win a WS every year with sub-standard pitching is border line insane.
Mussina was a great pitcher with the Yankee's, but he got old this year. Same with Clemens. They had zero front line stuff from their starters and that killed their bullpen.
This year and last year were very flawed teams. Great bats, but no pitching really. The Yanks used to get great pitchers in their mid to late 30's....they went for old pitchers this year.
