If you're referring to the the one that was a queen of england, yes she was real.
Having no idea which story you read or what it said, I can't tell you whether it about her or someone else or if it was true or not.

The queen of England, nick named bloody mary was real.
If you are talking about the legend of saying her name in a dark room in front of a mirror, no, it's not true. It's just a trick your eyes play on you in the dark. If you are in the dark in front of the mirror and you are expecting to see something in the mirror, then your eyes will percieve your reflection as something else in the dark.

I don't know what "story" you are referring to, but Bloody Mary did indeed exist. The nick name refers to Mary Tudor, daughter of Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon, his first wife. She became Queen of England after Henry's death. A fervent Catholic, she persecuted the Protestants of her day and had many executed, thus the "bloody" added to her name.

"Bloody Mary" actually refers to Mary I of England (Mary Tudor born on18 February 1516 – 17 November 1558) was Queen of England until her death. She was remembered for briefly returning England to Roman Catholicism and had almost three hundred religious dissenters executed by burning at the stake, as a consequence, she is often known as "Bloody Mary." She died on November 17, 1558 at the age of 42, most likely of ovarian cancer.
As for the legend of "Bloody Mary" is only a myth. Sometimes your brain likes to trick your eyes, it could be your own shadow or image through the mirror. As the legend goes, you have to twirl around 3 or 13 times, this is to make your head dizzy so you could only see blurry images in front of you. Since you can't really see what is in front of you, you start to make up your own interpretation of what you saw.
Injuries and accidents could occur when people try to scary themselves. Especailly in the dark, they could get really scare, run into things such as breaking their noses (cause of bleeding) or banging their heads into a wall (cause of bruises).
