I spent a month one day in Phoenix, AZ...the temps were 122 degrees, no one on the streets, no one to be seen anywhere...and they call it dry heat, "Oh, you get used to it!" Yea, right!
Palm Springs, one week, day time temps were 120+ degrees, and again, "oh, you get used to it." Bull crap1

Las Vegas, 3 days in 120+ heat, at 10Pm, it was still 105 degrees!
And no, I would NEVER get used to it...no thanks.
Peace and love, Goldwing

Southeast Texas. Summers there last eight months the temperatures are consistently in the 90's and the humidity levels are 75% to 90%. That puts the heat indexes into the 100's up to 120's. We had to be carefull working outdoors (which I did every day) because you could get heat stroke with in a couple of hours.

I've lived all my life in the deep south so heat is sometthing I thrive on. We didn't have a/c as a child and didn't know what we were missing. I have to agree with others after a hurricane passes by the devastation and no power is brutal. So Florida and Georgia are pretty warm 3/4's of the year. It is October and we are still near 90. In the summer the heat index is in the 110's and above.

This summer in southern Tennessee was the hottest place I've ever been. From the first of July to the first week in September there was an unbearable heat wave. In our community it was over a hundred nearly every day with dreadful humidity. It was 103' to 107' day after day and the worst was 110' one day. I could not stand to be outside.

South Viet Nam (Phu Quoc Island and Vung Tau at the mouth of the Mekong) 1966-67. When I flew out of Saigon in April of 67, it was 108 degrees. When I got to Baltimore to spend the weekend with my girlfriend, it was 57. She had on a skirt, sweater and another sweater (the kind that unbuttons down the front) and I had on my dress blues, my P-Coat with the collar turned up and I was FREEZING. And she wanted to walk around for a while.
My first quarter deck watch on the flag ship for the Middle East Forces in Bahrain (1978-79)...it was 118 degrees (F). I gave up a possible winter over (again) in Antarctica for THAT? After a while, all the Middle East countries started looking alike. I even had to stop as I walked down a street in Qatar to think of what country I was in.

Its not the heat that has bothered me its the humidity. Florida near Tampa I was there for a year and summers were horrible because you couldn't breath,it was like stepping into an oven. Also Arizona, some days got to be almost 115 and I was there for about 6 months, the air was drier and they have spritz machines all over the place so you can cool down, but man it was hot.

The desert mountains of North Central Spain, in Aug. It was 130 on the runway.
Kinitra Morroco. It stayed at 120 for eight weeks. Dropped down to 95. We were relieved.
The Negyev Desert in the Middle East. It was so hot that the dog chased a cat and they were both walking.

Where? My hometown, So. Florida
When? Either this summer or last summer
How? Temp was in the 90's, sometimes 100's and heat index was about 115, give or take. Humidity always at least 75%.

And I've lived through it for 19 years, or 228 months.

This summer living in NC has been the hottest for me. It's was in the 90-100's most of the time. I'm from WV and the weather was mild there. I've lived in FL and NC at the beach, but we always had a breeze to go with the heat there.

I lived in South Florida for 36 years, but the summers in Charleston, SC are hotter than there and the humidity is greater as well. We maintained heat indexes of 115-118 for weeks this summer.
