I am looking into the University of Southern California, and they have majors for both physical science and education.

It's good that you are thinking about your future and a good career. Consult with the counselor at the college you choose. Then take the basic courses first; the ones everyone in education has to take. By the time you finish them, you will have a better idea of what you want to major in. You may even change your mind on what road you want to pursue. Then is the time to narrow your choices and find a more specific major and minor. Concentrate on your bachelor degree first. Then a masters and if you wish, a doctorate later on. Good luck!

There is no such thing as Physical science by the time you get to college. In fact, it's been so long since I've taken physical science that I couldn't guess what kind of science that might even be. Is it Geology? Chemistry? Biology?

If you want a degree that's marketable, study and get a hard degree like math or chemistry. A degree like that would allow you to work in nearly any school system in the country.

That being said:

I would major in Math or Chemistry.

With a minor in primary education.

You would get a Bachelors degree of science in either Math or Chemistry.

You do not need a doctoral degree to each 8th or 9th grade students.

You need a bachelors in intermediate education. That's it! You can minor in science if you would like but you don't pick your career (besides middle school teacher) in college. Good luck
