I think so. I think anyone who is not a diehard Republican can see that it is better to spend billions helping Amerixcans to live better lives than it is to spend a trillion dollars helping Iraqis. Call it socialist or whatever you want, but people are tired of billions going to Saudis, Iraqis, and Israelis while Americans suffer at home

I don't feel that as an American I am not helped

I'm currently on a Gov student loan to further my education and career goals.

By making good decisions and managing my own life, I don't need the Gov's help beyond that.

Yes, especially this a lot of other countries we're "helping" probably don't want our help while others that do wonder why we're not. I bet there a quite a few Iraqis thinking, "I think we were better off with Saddam." As for my second point, ask the people in Darfur. Americans, meanwhile, are asked to stand up on their own and not expect anything from their government.

Amen brother. It is way past time to start helping Americans and stop spending money all over the world. We've spent a trillion dollars on Israel, if they can't stand on their own now, I say too bad.
With the money we've wasted in Iraq we could have provided health care to all Americans.

Yes. But the far right still thinks a few nuts in mud huts is more important than kids healthcare.

Sorry but it is one of the unsung great American acts we Americans do for the world. This is one of the closest non-partisan issues we have in this country. Every party has their favorites as to who to help and how much.

yeah its really upseting me- we can be trillions of dollars in det for a war but we can't fix up the school-system, we can't pay for universal healthcare, we can't pay for social security, we can't pay for national secuirty either, ..... the list goes on and on.

Republicans?

I thought it was John Kerry, et al who loves to kiss the UN's proverbal behind.

I believe we absolutely should help Americans first. But, we shouldn't be glamourizing dictators (like Chavez and Castro) either.

Personally, I'm tired of the expectation that government must 'take care' of everyone. It's a sick, tired and sad theory of entitlement. I'd like to believe my tax dollars would be much better served in my own hands, quite frankly.

and what do you do to help the Americans that are suffering at home?

I volunteer at numerous places in my state... (soup kitchens, elementary schools, childrens hospital, and currently exploring other opportunities!)
