Laws are written by a society to set its norms of behavior -- The society expects (demands) that its citizens obey the Law

Morality is an ethical choice based on the individual, and it is expected that individuals will act according to a Moral compass.

In a just society all laws would be moral --- but that is not the case in most societies : It was lawful in Germany 1933-1945 to abuse, plunder, assualt Jews and others --- It was lawful but not moral.

In the US South (and North) it was lawful to not hire blacks or to pay them less than a white man. In the North it was lawful to pay a woman less than a man for the same work and same amount of time in service and in grade.

In Oregon as recently as 1947 it was unlawful for anyone to sell land to someone of Chinese extraction.

Those were all immoral (IMO) and hopefully yours.

Murder is a crime. All murders are illegal and immoral.

The killing of an individual humans is not always murder, and therefore not always a crime.

What makes you think it is any different than any other kind of case? In a general sense, all crimes are based on a society's sense of morality. All criminal cases are battles between the prosecutor and the defense over the facts, which have little to do with morality

Laws are made based primarily on the morality of a society, so when a society says murder is morally wrong, that society makes laws to make it legally wrong as well (and to punish those who are found guilty of breaking that law).
