I was looking at pictures and it looked kinda drab and reminded me of the town in "I know what you did last summer." Would Virginia Beach have more options for things to do?

You were right about Hampton. It is a boring city, almost nothing to do at all there. However, it is close to Va. Beach, Norfolk and Williamsburg. It is a 10 minute drive to Norfolk, 20 minutes to the beach and about half an hour to Williamsburg. Norfolk is the worlds largest Navy base, so there are plenty of bars in Norfolk, espiacaly in the Ocean View area. Ocean View is a bit run down though, biker bars, strip clubs and dive bars, all the places a sailor or marine with a 3 day pass would love to go. Downtown Norfolk is the money district. You have all the suit and tie businesses there. The clubs there are more upscale. Norfolk also has The Waterfront, a little mall right on the pier where you can look at all the personal boats. They don't really let people on the Navy bases anymore, post 9-11, so you probably won't be able to go see all the warships. Williamsburg has Busch Gardens, which in my opinion is the best amusement park in the world. It is smack dab in the middle of the woods and they kept as many trees as absolutely possible. It is divided up into "countries" and each part of the park looks like that country. Williamsburg is also a very historical part of our history. Wars were fought there, the first settlement was there, Jefferson lived there, just alot of history. The people wear period costumes. Va. Beach is just that, a beach town. You won't find many ties at the beach, it is more of an entrepenaurial city, very laid back and fun. There is a bar on every corner on the actual oceanfront, a boardwalk that is about 3 miles long, volleyball courts, jet skis, just all the classic beach stuff. Well, I hope this helps you. It is not the best place, but it is not the worst place. Norfolk, Chesapeake, and fun VA Beach are not too far from Hampton. I actually had a great time at night at the Va Air and Space Museum in Hampton. But it is obvious that VA Beach has more options and things to do. It is the largest city in population in the entire state of VA!!
