I think you would be interested in this article by members of the Canadian Women's Health Network, with colleagues, just released awhile ago(early release) from the Canadian Medical Association Journal:
Human papillomavirus, vaccines and women's health: questions and cautions
by A. Lippman PhD, R. Melnychuk PhD, C. Shimmin BJ, and colleagues (August 1, 2007) http://www.cmaj.ca/cgi/rapidpdf/cmaj.070944v1
This will be part of an issue of the CMAJ that will feature other articles on HPV as well, due out August 28 at www.cmaj.ca
There is also a larger policy paper available (19 pages) -- casting a critical lens on the HPV vaccine -- now available on the CWHN website: HPV, Vaccines, and Gender: Policy Considerations http://www.cwhn.ca/resources/cwhn/hpv-brief.html

Gardasil is a vaccine against the HPV or Human Papillomavirus. The Gardasil vaccine protects recipients against 4 types of HPV, including the two types that cause most cervical cancers and the two types that cause the most genital warts.
HPV is a sexually transmitted disease that causes genital warts, abnormal Pap tests, and cervical cancer.
About 20 million people are infection with HPV in the United States and almost 3,700 women die of cervical cancer in the US each year.
Since many people have no symptoms and not even know that they are infected with HPV, they can pass on their HPV infection to their sexual partners without knowing.
There is no cure for HPV infections.

Hell no I would not recommend it.
1. We do NOT know the LONG TERM affects of this vaccine! For all we know it could have serious ramifications on girls' health!
2. In the commercial it even states that it MAY NOT prevent the four (out of many) forms of cervical cancer it SAYS it prevents!
I wouldn't get this vaccine even if I was in the age range. We know SO LITTLE about it and I'm horrified people are allowing their 9-26 year olds to have this drug.

I was told that they don't administer it to girls or women who have had sex. Which would leave you out. But perhaps they changed their minds about that, probably worth a check.
I think avoiding HPV and cervical cancer is a fine idea, and if Gardasil works, why not?

my niece took it and had a very bad reaction and her mom got very worried ,so worried she took her back to the dr . she was like having a seizure on the way home and remember this is a relatively new drug and we may not know the real side effects of it for a long time to come so be cautious everyone and know the facts before taking any drug !!!

every doc should have it in stock,
I have never heard of a shortage...our area has loads of it.
You get one dose, go back after 31 days to get the second and in 4 months you get the third.
a little tenderness and redness at the site of injection, other than that you are set.
