i travelled twice this year on first choice flights and they allow you carry and possibly even use a laptop while on the plane so the answer to ur question is eyesssssss. they will check it through passport control tho dont put it in ur suitcase as it will get launched around by careless baggage handlers

My sister moved across the country last year and took her computer CPU with her on the flight, because she didn't want to risk mailing it or checking it as luggage. She was allowed to, since it meets the size requirements for carry-ons. They just gave it a look-over like they do with laptops. She was very tired after lugging around two airports, though. Needless to say, she has a laptop now.
